What all men should know about their prostate

Enlarged prostate

Most men over the age 60 probably have an enlarged prostate, and the signs are that they make frequent trips to the bathroom or restroom as others will call it.
The reason is , as the prostate grows, it acts as a clamp on the urethra.
As the clamp gets tighter, urine stays in the bladder and increases the risk of urinary tract infection. If left untreated the enlarged prostate also known as benign prostate hyperglycemia BPH, can result in kidney damage, bladder stones and incontinence.
The conventional way of treating this would be through, either a procedure or the administration of drugs,as well as Kegal exercises, the same exercises that women use to reduce urinary incontinence.
The reason is, both men and women have PC muscle, which runs from the pubic bone in the front to the tailbone in the back. As the muscle is exercised more blood is able to flow to the reproductive organs and urinary tract which enhances bladder function and control.

The prostate is like a walnut sized gland that surrounds the tube that takes urine from the bladder to the outside.
As we age the prostate gland may enlarge and this can impede the flow of urine from the bladder. This is a common condition after the age of 50.
To alleviate the condition, it is important that the prostate is nurtured and given the important nutrients such as zinc and essential fatty acids. Zinc can be found in fish, seafood especially oysters.
Essential fatty oils can be found in nuts and seeds, oily fish, salmon, trouts, mackerel , herrings and also extra olive oil.
Eating a good portion of these foods is likely to help maintain health in the prostate gland, and possibly reduce enlargement.
